Hello First Years!
We hope your first week of classes is going well. We are very excited that you are here, and hope you are settling in well. Adjusting to college life can feel like a very big transition. If you have any questions or concerns, we are here to help.
This is a friendly reminder that you must meet with your assigned pre-major adviser by Friday, September 18th. Even if you are happy with your schedule, it is important to connect with this adviser, who will be a source of support and guidance as you find your footing, academically and otherwise, on campus.
September 18th is also the last day to add a class to your Fall 2026 schedule. You must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits and no more than 19 by this date. As we’ve said all summer, 15-16 is the recommended credit load in your first semester. Keep in mind as well that Tuesday, October 13th is the deadline to drop a class.
A few notes:
Our friends in the Creative Writing Department have let us know there is still time to apply for a class this semester.
Here is some information about walk-in hours at the Deans’ Office for Advising and Support this year as well as when and how to book an appointment with Dean Siegel.
All the best,
The First Year Team
